The importance of distinguishing between Religion and God

I have a lot of European friends and I used to date a Spanish girl so I have learned quite a bit about how religion is seen in at least Western Europe. It used to be something that I didn't understand as I come from a pretty conservative and stable background as far as that goes.

To my surprise many Europeans that I met were extremely negative towards religion. It was quite a shock to me at first since I knew that many of those countries were countries in which the main religion was Catholicism. Nevertheless, as I learned more about the history of especially Spain I came to understand more and more about why certain people feel like they do about religion and I have to be completely honest and say that I will never speak out against that again because I completely understand now.

Here is the important thing: I believe that if we knew God, we would be able to clearly distinguish between Him and religion, so that we can forget about religion and still follow God.

Well, I have a lot more to say, but on a slightly different topic (religion vs. science) so I am not going to continue with that here.

Please feel free to comment on this post,

Scientific Gaps?

It seems that in some cases Science does not close the gap that exists because of the presently unknown phenomena, but rather widens it which seems to increase the pointers to an ultimate creator.

Visualize Jesus's concept of time

For us humans, when we talk about God (Jesus) it often times difficult to imagine things like Jesus's concept of time. This comes up as we talk about living forever after death, for example. I read about a great analogy the other day, which I thought I would share. In order to think about that, we can think about a parade in the street. Let's say that person A that is in the parade is at point A1 in the street. Let's say that 100 meters ahead at point B1 someone in the street and the parade has to march around where the person is getting attended. To person A, this is in the future and he/she will come to know this soon, but does not know it yet.

Now, imagine a person in a helicopter above the parade. This person can see person A1 and also can see that the parade is marching around the place where the other person is getting attended. So to person H (in the helicopter) this is not in the future but in the present. The point of this analogy is to show that this is possible for person H because person H is in another dimension. Since A is moving on the ground we can almost think of it as if A is moving in 2 dimensional space and H is moving in three dimensional space since he rose up into the air.

This is a simple explanation of why God can see the future, the present, and the path. Since time is a human invented dimension, God has no concept of time. He exists in a different dimension and so can see all that is to come.

Introduction

Hi guys,

You can probably guess from the title what this blog is going to be about; however I want to make some things very clear. I have seen too many discussions about Jesus turn in angry, disrespectful, curse fests. My point with this blog is really not to disrespect anyone's opinion. I respect all opinions and I want everyone who takes part in this to do the same. Jesus is simply one of my passions and I am very interested in discussing him, his life, the Bible, or other related things. That being said, I know that there are people who do not agree with the Bible, for instance. You guys are welcome to join.

I want this to be a respectful, intelligent discussion. Let's not get mad at each other. Let's share information!

Have fun!
